Promoting Social Connection Among Older Adults Living with HIV/AIDS

ACL's Commit to Connect initiative and engAGED hosted a webinar on promoting social connection among older adults living with HIV/AIDS. During the webinar, Dr. Paul Nash of the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV and the University of Southern California shared the latest research on HIV and aging and the Detroit Area Agency on Aging highlighted its Food & Friendship Connections program, which provides social connection for older adults living with HIV. Attendees also heard from a person with lived experience on the importance of developing social connection opportunities for older adults living with HIV.

Physical Fitness and Social Engagement: Strategies, Activities and Partners

The engAGED August webinar focused on physical fitness and social engagement. During the webinar, YMCA of the USA, the National Council on Aging and the National Recreation and Park Association highlighted strategies for ways organizations can use physical activity as a hook to promote and encourage social engagement among older adults. Speakers also shared examples of potential partners for collaboration at the local level.
